Know His Heart: Gentle and Lowly

Are you discouraged? tired? frustrated?

If so, I highly, highly, and highly recommend a book called <Gentle and Lowly>:

This is my friend’s recommendation.

And I really appreciate her!

Summary

At Introduction, Dr.Ortlund says

This is a book about the heart of Christ.

And at Epilogue, he says

Whatever is crumbling all around you in your life, wherever you feel stuck, this remains, un-deflectable: his heart for you, the real you, is gentle and lowly. So go to him.

The whole part of this book exists to explain and describe the message above.

For who?

This is the book for

• the discouraged
• the frustrated
• the weary
• the disenchanted
• the synical
• the empty

That is, all “Sinners and Sufferers” as subtitle says.

3 reasons why I highly highly recommend

Here are reasons for which I am suggesting this study to you;

1. You must be touched by His merciful heart

As many people say on the Internet, you can be back not only to God’s tremendous gentleness but also to His humbleness.

2. You can find so many insights and biblical studies which come very directly from Bible

All christian books and studies should be based on the Bible;

Why do I mention that?

Because they give me the sense of truth more clearly illustrating Jesus’s heart.

Although there are a lot of texts based on the Bible, I assume that many of them would not state much evidence from the Bible;

they just don’t write distinctly in a text.

On the other hand, Dr.Ortlund writes down a great number of Bible verses and studies to describe the heart of Jesus and of God.

These words make you realize that His compassionate, kind, and humble heart is so real and genuin.

3. You want to go to Jesus

Go to Jesus

It is so basic. Everyone knows that.

Nonetheless, here, I want to encourage you to ask to yourself;

“How many times did I go to Jesus today?”

If you answer “zero”, don’t feel ashamed.

Because you are not alone. Other people have the same answer as you did.

But, at the same time, you also know that it is not a good sign.

You SHOULD go to Jesus.

Knowing His gentle and lowly mind will absolutely motivate you to go to Jesus.

What stood out in my mind the most?

What impressed me on God’s heart the most is the part of intercession.

Before sharing my thoughts, let me briefly explain what Jesus’s intercession is.

intercession applies what the atonement accomplished. Christ’s present heavenly intercession on our behalf is a reflection of the fullness and victory and completeness of his earthly work

He is intercessiong for us NOW!

In other words,  He is reflecting your secure moment by moment.

How amazing, encouraging, and kind His heart and intercession is…!

Unfortunately Jesus does not fix your problems magically, though you wish he does especially when you work.

Yet He keeps getting involved in your problems and in you so we can try and love again.

I want you to experience His intercession and this book will absolutely help you experience it.
